Pumpkin Carving!

So can you believe it? Only 3 more days til' Halloween! So I got into the Halloween spirit today by carving pumpkins with the family. But it didn't really feel like Halloween since it was pretty sunny today. Anyways, we each made a pumpkin...and let's just pretend mine was the winner...

My new Crafting love! DIY flower headbands

So lately I've been loving crafting and little DIY projects. They are just so fun. The other weekend we made some cute little flower headbands.  The process is actually really simple...So if you want to know how to make these cute DIY headbands, keep on reading

Getting everything set up

What you need: fabric glue, scissors, some colorful fabric, plain headbands (you can get some from Target for a dollar) or stretchy   ribbon, candle and match, needle and thread and gems/beads (optional)

First you are going to cut out several circles of your chosen fabric. You are going to want to use a man made fabric, like satin for the candle part to work. Then with the lighted candle, hover the fabric over the flame for a little bit until it slightly curls. This gives it a more interesting curled crisp look. If it catches on fire (which happened multiple times for me :)) just blow it out and trim  of the burnt part.
Repeat that process until you have a bunch of the circles making your flower shape. Then sew a few stitches right through the middle of the flower, which should secure the "petals" together.

Now you can some little rhinestones with the glue or sew on little beads. Or you can do both, like in this picture.

A flower with just beads sewn on.

Experiment with different colors and fabrics! Finally sew or glue the flower to your headband or stretchy ribbon. And ta-da! A super easy fun and cute flower headband!
My mom's friend's adorable baby wearing the headband I made for her!

I hope you all found this helpful and try this project out. This is a really versatile headband for all ages!
I will posting more crafting ideas and projects since I am making a lot of DIY stuff for my new room! Look forward to that! Thanks for reading :)

Favorite Fashion Era.. the 50s

Hi  y'all. Hope you are having a wonderful day. Today I wanted to write about my favorite time and fashion era of all time.. the 50's. Yup I absolutely love the polka dot swing dresses, the classy Audrey Hepburn outfits, the charming old cars, and just the classy glamour of it all. I am just in love with the vintage era.

Polka dot swing dresses

Tea length wedding gowns

If I could go back to any time era, I'd go to the 50's. I'd wear all the 50's outifts and dresses and buy candy for a penny and go to those cute little diners.

I think some aspects of 50's fashion is coming back in the 2012 trends, like....
